SUMMARY:Auburn Hills "Safe City" Initiative
DESCRIPTION:This new series will focus on the current "best practices" for keeping you and your business safe. Included in the series is the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events\, Workplace Violence Prevention\, with Internal Security Procedures\, and "Stop the Bleed" Basic Bleeding Control Course. There will also be an informational session on how to work with the City of Auburn Hills Police Department in bridging the gap between the police response and your company's emergency plan. Please note that your $20 registration fee allows you to attend both sessions.\n\n\n\n\nAgenda:\n\n8:00 am Registration & Continental breakfast\n\n8:30 am Session 1: Workplace Violence Prevention\n\n10:00 am Break (30 minutes)\n\n10:30 am Session 2: Stop the Bleed\n\n11:15 am Wrap Up\n\n12:00 pm Event Concludes\n\n \n\n\n\nPresented by:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOfficer Brian Miller\n\nAuburn Hills Police Department\n\n\n\nSession 1: Workplace Violence Prevention\n\nThe Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events Course\, based on the Avoid\, Deny\, Defend strategy was developed by the Texas State University's Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Team in 2004. It provides strategies\, guidance\, and a research based proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events\, civilian response options\, workplace violence indicators and considerations for implementing prevention and response plans.\n\n\n\nSession 2: Stop the Bleed\n\nThe number one cause of preventable death after injury is bleeding. Massive bleeding\, from any cause\, but particularly from an active shooter or explosive event where a medical response is delayed can result in death in less than 10 minutes. Learn this basic\, but often overlooked\, lifesaving skill and train with state-of-the-art "Combat Application Tourniquets" so that you are prepared for any emergency. \n\n \n\nWrap Up: Joint Law Enforcement/Private Sector Emergency Response Plan\n\nAfter the above-mentioned training\, representatives from the Auburn Hills Police Department will discuss how you can tailor your emergency response plans and internal infrastructure to coincide with the Auburn Hills Police and Fire response. Topics will include preparing "go boxes" for officer response\, outfitting your building for mass casualty incidents\, prepping your interior for better police and fire response\, and pre-planning for emergencies\, evacuations\, and shelter in place incidents.\n\n \n\nAt the conclusion of this series\, participants will have a better understanding of the free emergency planning and training services offered by the City Police Department to Auburn Hills based businesses\, schools\, religious institutions\, and community groups. Participants can schedule these services\, along with a security assessment of their property\, by contacting Ofc. Brian Miller at bmiller@auburnhills.org.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConsent to Use Photographic Images\n\nRegistration and attendance at\, or participation in\, AHCC meetings and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to the use and distribution of the registrant or attendees? image or voice in photographs\, videotapes\, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities by AHCC.\n\n\n\nRefund & Registration Policy \n\nPayment is considered final\, and non-refundable\, unless there is a quality issue that cannot be otherwise addressed. Registration for all events\, programs and membership is considered complete upon full payment. An invoice payment option will be available on most events until 14 days prior to the event date. Cash and credit cards are always accepted. A confirmation will be sent for all transactions with the Auburn Hills Chamber.
