Operations & Event Coordinator
The Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce is looking for a well-organized, energetic Operations and Event Coordinator. This full-time, hourly position seeks an individual with interest or experience in accounting or finance (knowledge of QuickBooks Online a benefit but not a requirement), database management, event coordination, and office operations. We typically enjoy a Monday-Friday 8:00AM – 4:00PM work week with some periodic activities and events that require an early morning or evening commitment. We provide a fun hybrid (office/work from home) environment, challenging tasks, constant interaction with the business community, and new experiences daily. Coordinating aspects of various projects, time-management, a sense of urgency, and flexibility are key qualities for this candidate.
Responsibilities
- Daily financial operations – accounts receivable, payables, invoicing, and create/distribute reports
- Coordinate Chamber events and programs including registration, set-up, and organization
- Operations of basic office equipment such as copier, phone system, computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Answer and adequately respond to telephone inquiries and walk-in guests
- Maintain paper and electronic filing systems, office supplies, event and storage room materials
- Process mail and coordinate general office supplies
- Database management - regularly update event content, member records, invoicing, etc.
- Assist the President and staff with project management, meeting notices, and member correspondence
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Works well with a team and independently
- Must be an organized individual with excellent writing and verbal skills to correspond with members and follow up accurately to member requests
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (and QuickBooks Online a plus but not a requirement)
- Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including telephone communications, office systems, and record keeping
- Knowledge of business communication, including style and format of letters, memoranda, minutes, and reports
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
- Capable of working in a team setting and collaborating on projects
- Ability to adhere to deadlines
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and means of transportation
