JOB TITLE: Marketing and Communications Director

JOB SUMMARY: This position will manage Neighborhood House’s communication, marketing and public relations activities. The successful candidate will ensure articulate and consistent communications of the mission, successfully delivering information and key messages to a variety of audiences.

JOB STATUS: Full/Part-time, 30 - 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday and occasionally during evenings and weekends as needed. Some flexibility for remote work.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

DIRECT REPORTS: Volunteer Coordinator (part-time) and Client Events Coordinator (part-time)

COMPENSATION: $28 per hour, Paid Holidays, Vacation and Personal Time Off, No Health Benefits

Primary duties and responsibilities:

Marketing and Communications

  • Design consistent and visually appealing organizational communications across a variety of platforms (annual direct mail appeals, social media, email, signage, brochures, flyers, etc.)
  • Manage email marketing platform (currently MailChimp)
  • Monitor and report online engagement metrics to include data tracking and Google analytics
  • Leverage key engagement metrics across platforms to optimize content, messaging and distribution
  • Create, update and manage content distribution across social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube (business level experience a plus)
  • Develop internal and external digital newsletter content creation and distribution
  • Research best practices to increase brand recognition across digital platforms
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive annual communications plan including timelines, marketing strategies and social media calendar
  • Develop and implement internal and external marketing plans

Public Relations

  • Foster local media relationships, garnering support of Neighborhood House
  • Timely press release content and distribution
  • Develop and maintain Neighborhood House brand on all external communications
  • Work with Development team to design presentations as necessary related to raising brand awareness

Website Design

  • Gather, develop and update agency’s website content (currently using Squarespace)
  • Monitor website analytics and search engine optimization

Development

  • Produce or assist in producing copy for direct mail campaigns
  • Manage event platforms, registrations and Amazon wish lists

Volunteer Coordination and Client Events Planning

  • Supervise employees responsible for volunteer coordination and client events planning
  • Ensure success of client events and coordination of volunteers across Neighborhood House
  • Improve efficiency among current team policies and procedures

Required education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism marketing, Public Relations or related field

Qualifications:

  • 3 - 5 years relevant marketing and communications work experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Working knowledge of communication principles and marketing techniques
  • Relevant training and experience in Microsoft applications
  • Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube)
  • Website design experience and maintenance (Squarespace proficiency a plus)
  • Graphic art capabilities (Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Digital/print design skills (image editing, tagging, resizing, etc.)
  • Data analysis (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.)
  • Video production experience a plus
  • Must have a passion for our mission and prior nonprofit marketing/communications experience a plus
