As the business community continues to navigate COVID-19, there is a great deal of urgency in creating work spaces that are physically safe for employees to return. While these measures are all critical and necessary, another component that must be considered is the emotional and social well-being of the men and women that return to the brick and mortar environment. It is essential that employers understand the spectrum of the emotional and psychological impact that this epidemic has had upon our entire society. Every individual has been impacted to varying degrees personally and professionally. It is also true that every individual is managing the impact in their own unique fashion.
As businesses seek to be productive and profitable upon reentry, it is crucial that business leaders are conscious and aware of the variety of needs that their employees are contending with. It is also crucial for business leaders to develop strategic approaches to help support their employees re-assimilate into the work environment, reflective of the range of emotions that they are experiencing. How leaders lead their workforce in these times will determine the degree of success that they will experience.
