Compliance Specialist
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Assists with the Credit Union’s overall compliance with applicable rules, regulations and statutory requirements.
- Performs ongoing quality control reviews/audits to ensure compliance with regulations, with emphasis on Fair Lending.
- Administers the Credit Union’s member behavioral reports.
- Audits the sale of credit insurance products to ensure compliance with credit union guidelines.
- Reports findings related to internal quality reviews to designated members of management.
- Works in tandem with the Internal Audit Department when requested.
- Follows up on various examinations, audit and compliance review findings and recommendations to ensure adequate corrective action has been completed.
- Reviews and monitors the Credit Union’s record retention procedures concerning retention, retrieval, preservation, and disposition of data.
- Provides process related insight relative to the continuous enhancement of compliance/risk management procedures.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality relative to any information received directly or indirectly at all times.
- Maintains knowledge related to industry events, trends and technology which may affect the credit union.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- High School graduate or equivalent required. Ability to become and remain 100% bonded.
- 2 year degree or specialized training preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable federal and state financial regulations.
- Understanding of real estate law, loan procedures and documentation, and auditing.
- BSA Specific Requirements: Notifying your manager or the BSA Manager when any suspicious activity is identified. Complete assigned training.
- Knowledge of banking/credit unions
- 1-3 years related experience.
- Solid analytical and problem solving skills.
- Attentive to detail and observant.
- Good communication skills.
- Effective public relations abilities.
- Creative and able to develop innovative solutions.
