Understanding Your Rights At Religiously Sponsered Hospitals
Across the state, community hospitals such as Crittenton Hospital are merging with outher health systems to relieve financial stress. When the merger is with a religiously- sponsered health system, religious doctrine can override medical standars of care or patients' wishes and access to care; particularly those patients seeking end-of-life, miscarriage and gynecological care. The ACLU of Michigan works directly with communities to find ways of protecting patients' rights and access to care when non-religious hospitals are proposing mergers. Come attend our event on June 24th at the Auburn Hills Public Library to learn more about how local hospital mergers can affect your access to important medical care.
